  Sergio Eduardo Moldavsky

He began his guitar studies at an early age under Alfredo Vicente Gascón. He received his formal education at the Buenos Aires Province "Juan José Castro" Conservatory, in La Lucila, Buenos Aires Province, where he graduated in 1982 His teacher was Graciela Pomponio. He pursued advanced studies under María Isabel Siewers.

He was awarded the following prizes in performance competitions:

  • 1980: Promociones Musicales de la Argentina, Second Prize

  • 1987: "Abel Carlevaro" Competition, Buenos Aires City Hall, Second Prize

  • 1988: "Mar Luisa Anido" Competition, Cículo Guitarrítico Argentino. First Prize
     


He recorded his first CD in 1998.with guitarist Victor Villadangos, featuring works by Argentine composer Jorge Gómez Crespo. This CD included the world premiere recording of the complete version of "Serie Argentina".

In December, 2000, "Clásica. Arte y Cultura Magazine" released his second CD devoted to 19th century guitar works, featuring his own transcriptions of some pieces. In 2002 he made the world premiere recording of Abel Fleury Complete Works. This Cd contains all of the original pieces written by the Dolores composer Abel Fleury (1093- 1958). He recently released two CDs: "Cantabile in strings" with soprano Rosana Risó and "A bouquet of my favorite flowers", devoted to Classic and Romantic music. He is presently recording Works by Adolfo Luna (1889-1971).

These CDs had excellent reviews from music critics, like Classical Guitar Magazine. "Sergio Moldavsky obviously loves this music and performs it with passion" (Allan Clive Jones).
In 1993, in a venue organized by Sebastián Dominguez in his radio program "From Segovia to Yupanqui" at the General San Martín Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Sergio Moldavsky had the honor of being selected to perform on the occasion of the last homage paid to the Doyenne of Argentine guitarists, María Luisa Anido (1907-1996) in her own country. On the occasion he played before her a program with her own compositions and transcriptions and works dedicated to her.

We still remember her fourteen years later...
 



In 2001 he and soprano Rosana Risó performed in the homages paid to Joaquín Rodrigo, on the hundredth anniversary of his birth.  

In 2003 he was invited to Stockholm (Sweden) to perform Argentine music at the 19th International Guitar Festival Summoned by the María Luisa Anido Association (AMLA) he was appointed Artistic Director of the María Luisa Anido International Classical Conference, held in Buenos Aires, in Argentine cities, and in Montevideo (Uruguay), on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the distinguished guitarist and pedadogue's birth. On the occasion he had every performer play works by  María Luisa Anido original Works and/or transcriptions, or Works dedicated to her.
